The Debators Welcome You!

This blog has been created, so that a few people may debate over random topics. Me, "RC", "Tomatoeworm", and "Jaghati Khan" will debate over random controversial things.

Enjoy!

Thought for December (Try #1)

Okay, this will be our first debate...

Is one's physical capabilities (as in sports, or physical health) based off one's confidence, whether they believe they can perform well physically, or off of pure luck, heriditary gifts, and random talent?

RC's Thought-

I believe one's physical capabilities have to do with the person's confidence. If a person has low self-esteem and believes deep down inside they can't do anything and that they are worthless, then they can't do anything. But if a person believes that they may be able to perform, then, most likely they can. It is all in your head.

Tomatoeworms "counterthought"-

I believe ones physical abilities depend on practice rather than just good luck charms, although confidence may contribute to your strengths during physical works. This whole conversation may get into another debate if you get over-confident in luck, which would then fall under the category of confidence and allow one to be more physically fit.

I, on the other hand, have Arthritus(JAS), Crones(IBD), and other disabilities(near sightedness and cross-bite) which "discourage" me in a way when I am doing physical exercises. Therefore, if disabilties can bring down ones confidence during physical exercise, it is the same vise versa. Disabilities "discourage" someone, while confidence can "encourage" someone.

So if luck cannot encourage someone, does that mean bad luck can't discourage someone? I think this blog may be more fun with more people, but that is just my opinion.

Thought for December (Try #2)

Do you think it is insulting to consider an elderly person an old person? Do you think the elderly feel insulted when you make a comment about them being old? Or do you think that they feel glad that they are called old, considering that they have been around the block a couple of times and they know much more than us?

RC's Thought-

I believe it affects different people different ways. Some people, who are more sensative, might take offense to being called old. I believe it does hurt most people, because to them, it appears that they are being looked down on, because they are old, and that because they can't do physically what they could do before, they aren't good for anything. I also think it is disrespectful to call an elderly person "old". They can't help from being old, just as much as the Antichrist can't help from being the Antichrist. But, then again, if they are a deeper person, and they realize that being old means you have had more life experience, and that gray hair is a sign of wisdom, then, maybe they won't take offense to being called old.
Tomatoeworm's Thought-
I think I agree with RC. It kinda depends on who the person is to how they feel(insulted or gratified). A person who sees the glass as half full would hear it as encouragement, while the person who sees it as half empty would feel insulted.
And the person who sees half 'n half (not half full or empty) would just think of it as a fact that they are old and there is nothing they can do about it.
And you also stated the Anti-Christ can't help being himself. I totally disagree, I think God will choose the person "most perfect" for the job of the Anti-Christ.

Thought for December (Try #3)

If the world will end soon, how come people try to gain matierial wealth if they'll lose it and not be able to take it with them?

Tomatoeworm's Thought

People want material wealth because they are confused. We as humans are born with many traits, but all humans are born with curiosity, pride, and greed. We have all of these, just not all of use have as much of it as others. These traits lead to wanting more material objects, either from a result of greed, curiosity, or pride.

It is usually greed if they always want more, pride if they want material wealth to become "popular," or curiosity as in wanting material things to know if they benefit you. This also has a little to do with living life your fullest. Many people(athiests) believe that the meaning of life is to live it at its fullest, which means to have as much material things as possible to benefit the life they have that won't last long.

By the way, who is Jaghati Khan? I have a feeling it is someone I know...

Thought For December (Try #4)

Here is Tomatoeworm's question-

If God is Jesus, and Jesus is God, then how come God knows the time when Jesus will return, yet Jesus doesn't? If those two are one entity yet one does not know the others doing, how can they still be one entity, one deity?

RC's Thought-

Well, first of all, the Bible says "Thou shall not put the Lord your God to the test, so this whole question is pointless and useless, but that's what this blog was made for, right? So, anyway, in order for this to make sense, you must realize this- the Deity does not think like we do! They (or HE) thinks unlike us. He does not reason like we do. Jesus does not know when He is coming, because He must fufill a prophecy in the OT.

I compare the Deity to water. There are three forms- Water, ice, and water vapor. Now, if (this is hypothetical) these 3 forms could think and talk, it could be said they are one organism. But you CANNOT have three SEPERATE organisms together, in one almighty thing.... think about it, and realize that it makes perfect sense that Jesus doesn't know when he is coming...

The Official Thought for December

Now, we have had a bunch of thoughts for December, and now, it is time to pick the official "Thought For December".
Each month, we will do this. At the beginning of the next month, we will vote on what we think should be the "Thought for the Month", and you will leave comments telling us your opinion. Then, after we have selected the official "Thought for the Month" we will delete the other tries. However, if one Debator really enjoyed one of the tries, but it didn't make the cut for the "Thought of the Month" he may copy and paste it to his computer. He will then leave a post telling that he has saved it, and the post does not need to be held on the blog any longer. Then the post will be deleted.
